These watches were provided to the Italian naval elite forces like frogmen, SLC torpedo riders and commandos. But the watches have a problem- they are very inconvenient to left-handers. Panerai ingeniously turned the movement and dial 180 degrees, so the soldiers can use their left hands to adjust and wind the watches. MM1940's leather, dyeing method and texture are extremely similar to the original strap of Panerai Lefty.
